After looking through the internet, I have gotten the following information. There seem to be several opinions as to what causes this problem and its solutions. I would therefore suggest one applies one’s mind, and if uncertain consult with your IT consultant, before implementing any of these solutions:
(Please note: Cause (a) should be read with solution (a) and other information (a))
The Problem
After changing the scaling on Page Setup to fit to 1 page wide by 1 page tall each cell appears on a new page. The following error message is displayed: “Margins don't fit page size”.
Possible causes
a) Printer driver installed incorrectly (i).
b) Information being sent in postscript format to printer (ii).
c) Incorrect printer selected, Windows XP SP2 sometimes unexpectedly resets printer defaults on booting (iii).
d) Printer had been worked on earlier in the day (iv).
e) Not mentioned(iv)
f) When you switch the driver for a printer, the system attempts to merge the device mode settings for the old printer driver with the device mode settings for the new printer driver. This is to try to preserve the device mode settings for the old printer driver so that they can be reinstated if you switch the driver back. However, some settings are not supported by some drivers, and this approach can lead to inconsistencies (v).
g) Reinstalled printers driver for HP LaserJet
h) This problem could also be a result of a corrupted normal.dot file and large number of temp files and Temporary Internet Files (vi).
Suggested Solutions
a) Deleting and reinstalling printer drivers(i).
b) I got the printer working, and let you know what I did. I eventually recreated the print share on our print server. It appears that the driver was configured to send the information to the 5Si in postscript format. I forced it to just plain Laserjet 5 Si MX and it is now working properly. Nothing fancy, just erased old printer and recreated the printer with that driver. Just FYI(ii).
c) Change default printer(iii).
d) Went to File > Print and reselected the printer and the error message did not appear again. Seems like reselection resets the correct printer driver(iv).
e) Try selecting another printer and clicking page break preview again(iv).
